  • For decades, Egypt has been one of the best and safest tourist destinations. You will be surrounded by warm Egyptian hospitality and welcoming locals. With some sensible precautions and preparations, you will be able to explore Egypt with peace of mind. In general, Egypt boasts of low crime rate, and visitors will especially safe in areas frequently visited by tourists.

  • There are a few things to consider when planning your trip to Egypt.

    First, Egypt has very hot summers, with temperatures reaching as high as 115° F in the months of June, July, and August. If anyone in your group has a low tolerance for heat, we suggest planning to visit Egypt between September and April.

    The next thing to consider is holidays that may align with your visit. Egypt is a popular destination for holiday vacations. You can expect temples, tombs and pyramids to be slightly more crowded between the months of November and January.

    Finally, Ramadan (widely recognized in Egypt) is a unique time to visit, but does affect hours of operations. During this time, Egypt operates at a much slower pace with many Egyptians fasting during the day and celebrating with their families at night. You may notice your guide, driver, and tour directors will have a little less energy during this time, but as always, will give you their very best.

  • Acquiring a travel visa is very simple and can be done in one of two ways.

    Option 1: Order your E-Visa before you’re departure through this site.

    Option 2: A travel visa, valid for 30 days, can be purchased in the Cairo airport from any bank desk right before you pass through customs. The cost is $25 and it is recommended that you have American cash prepared to make this purchase, and the card machine is not always reliable. This process is quick and easy with an American passport. Your passport must have a full page available and be valid for 6 months beyond the date you wish to travel for this option.

  • Cards such as Visa and MasterCard are accepted at restaurants and hotels, but for most of your purchases, we recommend you have cash on hand. US dollars are gladly accepted. The local currency, the Egyptian Pound (EGP) , can be obtained in Egypt from an airport exchange counter, bank, or ATM. When tipping your guide, driver, or tour director, we recommend using US dollars.

  • We want you to feel comfortable during your stay. In the warmer months, it is recommended you wear light loose fitted clothing and closed-toe shoes. It is also a good idea to wear sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses while on a walking tour. Our of respect for the local culture, guests should consider wearing clothing that covers the shoulders, chest, and thighs.

  • We recommend you try to pack in one suitcase for each guest. This simplifies your travel and makes it easier to move from one destination to the next. Remember to leave space in your suitcase for souvenirs, as you will have plenty of opportunity to shop for Egyptian specialty items!

  • Phone cameras are allowed in almost all locations. If you wish to bring a separate camera with you, a few locations, such as the Valley of the Kings, may charge a “photography fee”.

  • Hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships all have wifi available to guests. WiFi is widely accessible throughout Egypt.
